What readers are saying about  - EVIL IN MIND:

Wow, I took a punt on downloading all 7 books in the Di Danny Flint series.

I've just finished reading the first book Evil In Mind. What a fabulous, roller coaster of a ride. I put the book down, only for my fingers itching to pick it up again. This book was extremely well written and fast paced, edge of the seat ride. I was there with the team, at one point shouting 'oh no don't go home yet!' Now I have the pleasure of reading the next six. Excuse me whilst I fasten my seat belt for #2. Thank you for hours of escapism Trevor Negus.

This is the first book of CID Flint crime thrillers series.

I loved the storyline, great characters written to draw you deeper into the criminal minds darker side and Chief Inspector Danny Flint and his team have it all on trying to catch them. The writing draws you in from start to finish and is a definite page turner. Half way through the second book in the series Dead and Gone. Well Done Trevor Negus a brilliant writer. Looking forward to reading all your books in the series.

I will admit this not my usual genre

with graphic detail about how someone is murdered. However the more I read the more i became hooked and ended binge reading it. I would highly recommend this book and can’t wait to start the DCI Danny Flint’s next chapter

This is most definitely a page turner

the characters are well formed with the reader seeing all sides including that of the killer. Flint is very likable and I'm looking forward to seeing his progression throughout the series

This was one of the most spine-tingling stories I have read in a while

For those like myself that enjoy thrillers, this story was definitely that. If you like suspense at its best, you must read this book. I cannot wait to read book #2 !!!

Dead and Gone.png

DEAD AND GONE - Book 2

Once they were the predators. Now they are the prey.

Nottinghamshire, 1986. Two bodies are discovered at different ends of the county. Both victims are men, and both have been tortured and mutilated.

The murders have clearly been committed by the same person at both scenes, the walls are daubed with an identical series of letters and numbers, painted in the victim’s own blood.

Detective Chief Inspector Danny Flint, now in charge of the newly formed Major Crime Investigation Unit, is tasked with finding the killer.

As the body count rises, Flint and his team understand they are up against a predator who will strike again and again.

But it’s only when they decipher the sinister code left at the murder scenes that they realise they are in a race against time. And if they lose, the final victim will be one of their own…

What readers are saying about  - DEAD AND GONE:

After reading Book 1 in the Danny Flint series I wasn’t sure what Book 2 would deliver… but believe me it does. Another book I couldn’t put down - brilliant storyline yet again keeps you on your toes throughout …. The characters are amazing some you love some you love to hate either way if you like a good crime novel then this series is definitely a ‘must’ read … i read this in just over a day and immediately started Book 3….. long may the series continue.

The second book in the series DEAD AND GONE with DCI Danny Flint and his team is another page turner.

I felt trepidation every time I read about 'the watcher' and his murderous deeds, I loved some of the characters and really hated some of the others who you realised were really sleazy characters. The ending was a fantastic twist of fate, and I began rooting for the one character that I hated in the beginning of the book. I could not put it down. Now I am reading the third book in the series A COLD GRAVE. Well done Trevor Negus. You have done it again, a gripping, thrilling page turner.

I could not stop reading this novel.

It had me spellbound. It’s amazing to me how people can interpret the Bible to match their own twisted thought process. Excellent author.

Loved this book, its just non-stop all the way.

Fantastic read, brilliant characters and an amazing storyline. Ready for more

I could not stop reading this novel. It had me spellbound.

It’s amazing to me how people can interpret the Bible to match their own twisted thought process. Excellent author.

Taken To Die – the fourth in the gripping detective series featuring

DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about  - TAKEN TO DIE:

Yet another masterful piece of storytelling from Trevor Negus

in his latest novel featuring DCI Danny Flint. There were many twists and turns in the plot which kept the reader enthralled and eager to turn to the next page. The imagination of the author is astonishing and translates to totally authentic and believable police procedures of the time. I found the loyal relationship between Flint and his staff most heartwarming. His conflict with his immediate superior officer lent another aspect to the investigation.
In the true tradition of crime thrillers Trevor has left the reader wanting more with an inevitable cliffhanger.
I hope that Danny Flint will re-emerge very soon.

Wow the fourth book TAKEN TO DIE in this authors CID Flint crime thrillers series didn’t disappoint,

another gripping story from start to finish, I just couldn’t put it down with all the twists and turns and the author keeps you gripped all the way through to the end. This book will have your emotions all over the place while you keep guessing and changing your mind regularly, another great exciting read. I'd recommend this series to everyone. Can’t wait to read the next book from Trevor Negus. Keep them coming. Looking forward to book five in this series.

Each time I read one of Trevor's' books I often wonder where he gets his ideas from,

yet each story is fresh and unique. Book 4 was equally gripping with tons of twists and turns leaving the reader gasping to read onto the end. New big bosses in this addition which isn't always smooth running. Absolutely brilliant I would offer more than 5 stars if possible. Already downloaded book 5 which I can't wait to start. Many thanks Trevor for keeping your readers enthralled!

This book continues the story of DCI Danny Flint, and his team.

There is some conflict regarding the viability of his Unit, but crime still needs to be investigated. A young girl has been abducted and is in danger. There is violence, deceit and courage before the story concludes. Characters are well rounded and believable.

This kept me guessing to the very end. I didn't see it coming. This book is fantastic!!

There were constant surprises. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The book was about serving justice. Well written.

Kill for you.png

KILL FOR YOU - Book 5

Two killers. A county under siege.

Nottinghamshire 1987, summer. It should be a time of ease and plenty. But two killers stalk the county.

The first is a cunning pyromaniac, enthralled by fire. He likes to watch as his victims desperately try to escape the rising flames.

The other is a gentle giant who has been abused and ridiculed all his life.
Now he’s out to settle old scores by drowning anyone who has wronged him in the dark and deadly waters of the River Trent.

DCI Danny Flint and the MCIU are tasked with stopping the killers. If they fail, it will mean a long, hot summer of death.

Kill for You – the fifth in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about -  KILL FOR YOU:

Couldn’t put down
Another fabulous book by Trevor Negus.
Like a lot of people I enjoy reading, but, and it’s a big but, the story must be plausible, the characters believable and the grammar good. A lot f books start well and fizzle out halfway through as though the author has got bored, Trevor’s books, as my old English teacher used to drum into us, have a beginning, a middle and an end. Keep it up Trevor, really looking forward to the next book.

 Another Intense read.
Yet again another belter from Trevor. Book 5 yet still fresh with a intriguing plot. Two separate cases yet both equally gripping with many twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Brilliant conclusions on both cases yet the suspect for the fires was a real surprise. Well done Trevor looking forward to book 6.

Kill For You
Trevor Negus has done it again. His creation DCI Danny Flint is an authentic depiction of a detective from the 1980’s. Trevor’s fertile imagination has resulted in his most gripping novel yet. We shall hear of Danny Flint again.

Great Reading
5th in the series. After a slightly different type of story in book 4 this picks up the pace quickly and never stops. Two murderers on the loose in Nottinghamshire, Danny Flint and team are joined by a Profiler in 1987 to crack the cases. A page turner/screen swiper which was sadly over and done within the week. When's the next one?

 Exceptional Meticulous Writing
These are brilliant easy read with no detail left untold and without being pretentious in any way. Negus has produced a set of characters and story lines that would sit well as continuing TV drama. " Line of Duty producers look and take note "

One Deadly Lie.png

ONE DEADLY LIE - Book 6

He doesn’t want to kill. He needs to.

A female health worker strangled at a municipal park. An elderly woman battered to death in her own home. Then, as Danny Flint and the MCIU start investigating, a third unidentified female is found dead on the M1 motorway.

Already stretched trying to investigate these killings, the MCIU are assigned another case - a young police officer left in a coma and clinging desperately to life after being beaten and kicked unconscious by a gang of football hooligans.

The four separate enquiries are Danny’s toughest challenge to date. But then a link is found that ties the three murders to a house in the centre of Nottingham.

As the net closes in on the killer the investigation takes an unexpected and bizarre twist as more bodies are discovered. With the death toll rising, Danny is left trying to answer a single question - just how far will this deranged killer go to conceal their one deadly lie?

One Deadly Lie – the sixth in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about -  ONE DEADLY LIE:

One Deadly Lie
Trevor Negus has become one of the nations best crime writers. One Deadly Lie is perhaps his best yet with a compelling and brilliantly crafted plot. I enjoyed it immensely.

Another excellent addition to the series
This is another cracker in this great series. This time Danny and his team are really stretched to the limit with 4 different cases. We see some of Danny's team managing the various investigations and there really is a great collaboration involved and a sense of camaraderie. The investigations into each case are as riveting as ever and the end results in the murder cases is quite bizarre but nonetheless fascinating. The writing is excellent as usual and we are transported back to the 80s. Yet again, I find myself unable to put it down. I was delighted to have a day off work so I could continue reading it. I really hope this series continues and if so, that there isn't a long wait to the next book.

Brilliant
The blurb for this book had me hoping for a really good story and it did not disappoint. It was well written and I really enjoyed reading it. I'll be reading the others in the series.

Another Excellent Book
A thoroughly enjoyable read. I've now read three of the author's books and intend on purchasing the remainder. It's great reading a good detective novel which is set in the UK, written by someone who understands policing.

Wow
This is the best yet. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in the series but this one tops them by a mile. Covering two totally different crimes and managing to keep me interested in both while reading about the other. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Sweet Revenge......jpg

A Sweet Revenge - Book 7

They preyed on the innocent. Now they will pay.

Manfred Bauer, a convicted sex offender, is found bludgeoned to death.
As DCI Flint and the MCIU begin a murder investigation, they are faced with a wall of silence from an apathetic public who have little sympathy for the dead man.

Then a second sex offender is found murdered. The killer has left an identical signature on the shattered skulls of each victim, leaving DCI Flint in no doubt the murders are linked.

As the subsequent investigation gathers pace, it uncovers the existence of a shadowy organisation targeting sex offenders. But who is behind it? And how can it be stopped? When a third victim is beaten to death on a canal towpath, Flint realises he is in a race against time – he needs to move fast if he is to prevent the killers striking again.

But working quickly means taking risks and Flint soon realises his own team may be in grave danger - as they face off against a group who will stop at nothing to accomplish their deadly mission.

A Sweet Revenge - the seventh in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about - A SWEET REVENGE:

I must say Trevor is an outstanding author who just keeps producing such powerful, tense crime fiction. I love the short chapters highlighting dates and times of events. A very serious message about sex offenders being released early from a lengthy prison sentence is very thought provoking. Danny and his trusty team are pushed to their limit to bring the suspect to justice. A very worthy 5*

Love this author’s work and always look forward to the next book.
I enjoy the throw back to the 80’s and the detail of how police investigations took place before DNA. That’s the difference to the other, up to date detective books. This one didn’t disappoint. I found it it wasn’t as gruesome as the other books but the storyline was still full of intrigue.

Just the author that keeps on giving. Absolutely fantastic 😀. TV series would be great!!!! Well done Trev 👍👍

Trevor Negus has done it again
with this gripping storyline. A Sweet Revenge featuring DCI Danny Flint is exciting and absorbing. An unmissable read from an author at the top of his game.

Another one of Trev Negus books I struggled to put down !
Someone is murdering pedophiles' who have been released early from prison, DCI Danny Flint and his team are struggling with the investigation due to lack of forensics and the public that doesn't really care.
Different leads are followed by the team and throw up other areas of concern.....which looks like it will lead nicely to his next book.
A great read, the only positive to finishing this book is I might now get some housework done.

Devils Breath..jpg

The Devil's Breath - Book 8

Nottingham, 1988. A family of four are found dead in their home, killed by a deadly toxin.

A few days later, an elderly couple are murdered. Also poisoned.

DCI Flint and his team are tasked with finding the killer. They quickly establish that the victims have a single, tenuous link - both families bought groceries from the same supermarket.

It’s the ultimate investigative nightmare – someone is poisoning food on a seemingly random basis. But why? Are they killing for pleasure? Or do they have some other motive?

Things become clearer when the supermarket receives a menacing letter demanding cash and threatening more murders. Flint realises he’s in a deadly race against time – if he doesn’t catch the killer quickly, more innocent people will die.

But how to even begin? The poisoner could be anyone and the poison anywhere.

The Devil’s Breath – the eighth in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about - The Devil's Breathe:

Trevor Negus has done it again with his latest novel in the DCI Danny Flint series. The Devil’s Breath has a gripping and ingenious plot and leaves you asking for more after its successful resolution. Absolutely compelling.

Another great read. Another journey into the office of the MCIU. Fantastic link to the title!
Only problem is now having to wait for book 9. Can’t wait for the next one.

I've just finished the Devil's Breath. How I love this series. DCI Danny Flint is someone I would want at my back! Keep them coming please and many thanks for hours of escapism reading.

Trevor didn’t disappoint with this excellent page turner. I couldn’t put it down!

Another great novel from Trevor, the detail he goes into & how you become familiar with the characters, you get an insight into what motivates the criminals & those who pursue them. Anyone who enjoys crime novels with great insight to procedures & operations will enjoy all the books Trevor has written. Can’t wait for the next one!

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.

Four gruesome murders, and DCI Danny Flint is feeling the heat.

The unsolved murders of two elderly women have been keeping Detective Chief Inspector Danny Flint of the Major Crime Investigation Unit awake at night.

It doesn’t help that one of the victims was the mother of the chairperson of the Nottingham Police Authority. With the bereaved councillor leaning heavily on the chief constable, demanding answers now, the last thing Danny needs is another case to crack.

But then a Scottish businessman is found dead, his tortured body bound with a peculiar knot.

Then another body is discovered, tied up using the same unusual technique. It can’t be a coincidence, but this new victim met her gruesome fate over fifteen years ago. So how are these two cases linked?

With at least one killer on the loose and four unsolved murders, the entire future of the MCIU hangs in the balance, and Danny needs to find some answers - fast.

Tied in Death – the tenth in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

A Fatal Obsession - Book 11

Book 11.jpg

Guy Royal is a much-loved TV star. So why does someone want him dead?

Guy Royal, one of the nation’s favourite TV stars, is shot and killed in his isolated mansion.

Tasked with finding the killer, DCI Flint and the MCIU quickly learn that in real life Royal was a toxic character with many enemies. And that’s a problem because it means there are a lot of people who might have wanted him dead – ex-wives, his manager, drug dealers, disgruntled ex-employees.

With so many suspects, the investigation moves slowly, and comes under increasing scrutiny from a hostile media. And with his new boss demanding results, it soon becomes one of the most complex and difficult cases of Flint’s career.

Then a second murder investigation is launched when the daughter of one of Flint’s closest colleagues is rushed to hospital after taking ecstasy.

But in an unexpected break, it soon becomes clear there may be a link between the two cases. A link which will lead Flint to a remote hideaway where he will face a terrifying threat to his own life in what may be his most thrilling case yet.

A Fatal Obsession – the eleventh in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.

What readers are saying about A Fatal Obsession:

Another great read from Trev Negus

A Fatal Obsession is another great read in the Danny Flint series, another one that i couldnt put down, and that I thoroughly enjoyed.
There are different elements to the story that all cleverly come together to reveal what happened to a television personality thats been murdered in his own home. It had me hooked.
Trev Negus can't write books quick enough for my liking!

This is a detective thriller story. The story is well written and easy to read with a realistic and well done setting. The characters are also nicely developed with just the right amount of grit for this kind of story. The plot involves plenty of intrigue and mystery which keeps the reader guessing about practically everything. Overall, I found the story to be highly engaging and enjoyable. I look forward to exploring more from this series - Highly recommended.

 Brilliant!!!

I love the Danny Flint series...Have read them all and each book never fails to deliver a really interesting story. I like that they are set in the 80's and 90's, without all the technology of the present day. Can't wait for the next instalment.

 Excellent

Loved every book in the series, and this one is no exception it delivers yet another intriguing and interesting plot with plenty of twists and turns for a riveting read. Can't wait for book 12!

 Totally unputdownable!!!

From start to finish the book had me gripped, fingers crossed the next one won't be too long!!

Book 12.jpg

The First Cut - Book 12

What readers are saying about The First Cut

 Brilliantly written.

Trevor Negus has excelled himself with this gripping and innovative novel featuring the character of DCI Danny Flint and his team of detectives. This is a most intriguing and gripping plot which takes the reader into a variety of directions with a most surprising resolution. Trevor Negus has the capacity to completely focus the reader's attention from the first page to the last.

 Fantastic series of books

I absolutely love this author, the Danny Flint series of books are brilliant, they have you hooked within a few pages. Can’t wait for the next one.

Another great read in a great series

This is another page-turner in what is one of my favourite series. This time Danny and the team investigating the death of an old man in what seems to be part of a car theft. At the same time, the death of a career criminal seems to be an open and shut case when DNA evidence leads them to the killer...or does it?
As usual, nothing is straightforward and the involvement of the DNA evidence and further complications was both brilliant and fascinating, not to mention eye-opening. Highly recommended.

As always EXCELLENT!

I don't remember too many series that grab me with the first book and still grabs me by the 12th book. The plots are great and the characters feel so real. No one is perfect, they make mistakes, but keep at till the all the clues are there. You think you know who the killers are but Mr. Negus knows how to twist the tale. And still, you are surprised. Highly recommended.

Will an innocent man pay the ultimate price?

A seventy-year-old man, Lionel Wickes, is murdered outside his own home as he tries to stop a thief stealing his car.

A second body is discovered in the centre of Nottingham and again there are suspicious circumstances. The victim, Randall Clements, has died of head injuries.

A wealth of forensic evidence found at the scene of the second murder quickly leads DCI Danny Flint and the MCIU to a suspect. Craig Stevens, a man with a long history of violence, is arrested and charged with the murder of Randall Clements.

Danny is then free to concentrate all his efforts into finding the killer of Lionel Wickes. Until a possible link between the two murders comes to light which leads him to have serious doubts about the guilt of Craig Stevens.

Danny finds himself facing a solitary battle to prevent a horrifying miscarriage of justice which he himself may have caused.

But nothing is at it seems as Danny desperately fights to uncover the truth in what may be the most complex and shocking case of his entire career.

The First Cut - the twelfth in the gripping detective series featuring DCI Danny Flint.
